AWID has reserved hotel rooms at Costa do Sauípe Resort where the Forum will take place. We have negotiated special all-inclusive rates for the duration of the Forum.

If you're registered, you can book a room

  1. Log in to your profile
    If you don’t have a password click on Request login details and one will be emailed to you.
  2. Registration Details page:
    • click EDIT beside attendee 1, and proceed through the registration pages to confirm all the information and to book your hotel on the Hotel Information page.
  3. Hotel Information page
    • Select YES when asked if “Would you like to book your accommodation at Costa do Sauípe now?”
    • Select Room Type.
      Please be sure to read all of the information as there are many different room types and roommate options. It is important for the purposes of matching that you provide the correct details.
  4. Hotel Booking page.
    • Select the number of people you would like to book a room for based on your type of occupancy. For example: If your room type was double room shared with a Forum attendee, the number of people in your room should be 2.
    • Click on the calendar to select your check in and check out dates.
  5. Hotel list page
    • Select the hotel/room category from the list of available rooms
      Only rooms matching your requirements will be displayed.
    • Click More details for this hotel to read more about each different hotel and the amenities
      Please note: All prices are listed per person based on the occupancy you selected. Your roommates will pay their share of the cost of accommodation when they register.
  6. Room guest details
    • Enter the names of ALL guests staying in your room.
    • Rooms will only be reserved at the Hotel once all of this information is completed.

Please note no changes to room mates or room types will be accommodated after August 15th.


  • After August 22nd: Accommodations changes will have a charge of one night's accommodation and changes on registration will have a $65 penalty.
  • After September 1st: Any room cancellations won't have a refund and changes on registration will have a $65 penalty.

If you decide to stay at a different hotel, there is a $40 USD daily fee to access the resort

No, you don't have to be an AWID member to participate but AWID members receive a discounted registration fee as well as a number of other benefits.

Included in your registration fee is
  • Attendance to all sessions in the Forum program
  • Transportation to and from the airport in Salvador to and from the Costa do Sauípe Resort (or nearby hotel)
  • Lunch will be provided every day as well as access to our Forum Party

Please note:

If you book a room at the Costa de Sauipe Resort, accommodation fees include all meals, drinks, room and access to the resort.

If you decide to stay at a different hotel, there is a $40 USD daily fee to access the resort.

Yes, presenters will pay a registration fee of $250.

We strongly suggest that you register ahead of time as space is limited. Our ability to offer onsite registration is fully dependent on capacity.

AWID is concerned about accessibility and has put a number of measures in place to assist with the costs of attending the Forum:

  • Access Fund - Approximately 300 presenters will have their airfare, hotel and visa costs fully funded. Applications for Access Fund are now closed. All applicants should have been informed of the decision by email.
  • Free Registration - We are also providing 200 free registrations to Brazilian participants as well as volunteers

The Forum is being held from 8-11 September 2016 at the Costa do Sauípe Resort, Bahia, Brazil.

All people traveling to Brazil must present an approved travel document - passport or identity card. Please note that Brazil requires visas for visitors from a number of different countries. We urge you to contact the nearest Brazilian embassy or consulate as early as possible to determine where your application should be made and how long this process will take.

Please note that Brazil has waived visas for some countries until September 18, 2016.

Getting from the airport to Costa de Sauípe

Costa do Sauípe is 80 km (45min – 1h) from the Salvador airport, which receives domestic and international flights.

We will be offering complimentary transportation based on your arrival times so it is imperative that you provided us your flight details.

If you have not already done so please follow these steps to secure your local transportation.

  1. Login at

  3. Proceed through the registration pages until you arrive at the Travel Details page.
  4. Enter travel information
  5. Proceed until you arrive at the registration details page
  6. Follow these steps for each attendee
  7. Complete registration

Please note we need all final flight details by no later than Saturday 3 September. If we do not have your details by then we can not guarantee you a place on the shuttles.

Please look for the AWID signs at the airport just outside of the luggage collection area to start your AWID Forum journey!

Going back to the airport

The final plenary will end at 4 pm local time on September 11, after which there is a planned solidarity rally with Brazilian activists. After the rally, you will have the option of transport to the airport or back to Costa do Sauipe (or to hotels in the area of the rally).

Shuttles will return to the Salvador airport beginning at 16:30 Sunday 11 September and the last shuttle will depart at 12:00 Monday 12 September.

The majority of rooms are fully accessible. Shuttles will also be arranged between the hotels to transport participants who have difficulties to walk.
Costa do Sauipe offers outpatient medical care, through the contribution of R$14.00 per day/apartment. Guests who pay this fee will be covered for such expenses. Drug costs, removal and others when necessary, will be a guest account. Guests wishing not to pay for this insurance, but who need use the service, will incur the cost of R$150.00, as well as the the cost of drugs in the local currency. Visit our Health page
All plenary sessions and as many participant-led sessions as possible will have simultaneous interpretation into English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
